Wine shop Zagreb: our list of 28 wines
Looking for a wine shop in Zagreb? Taste our wines by the glass before you choose a bottle.
How our wine list works
If you’re searching for a wine shop in Zagreb, Time4Wine lets you taste before you commit.
We pour 28 wines in the Upper Town, built around Croatian grapes such as Graševina, Malvazija and Plavac Mali. Most are €7 a glass and €36 to €42 a bottle, and the house white and red are €4 a glass.
You’ll find us at Kamenita ulica 5, a minute’s walk from the Stone Gate (Kamenita vrata).
The wines are grouped the way they appear on our menu: white, red, rosé and sparkling, then sweet wines and house wines. A glass is 0.125 l and a bottle is 0.75 l, unless the list says otherwise.
Almost every wine comes by the glass and by the bottle, which is what sets us apart from a regular wine shop in Zagreb: you can try a glass first, then order the bottle you liked for the table.
Grape names stay in Croatian, the way you’ll see them on labels across the country, with the English name in parentheses where there is one.
White wines: Graševina, Malvazija, Pošip and more
Graševina is the most widely planted grape in Croatia, grown across Slavonia and along the Danube. Malvazija comes from Istria, the peninsula at the top of the Adriatic. Pošip is the white of the island of Korčula, fuller than most Croatian whites, and it’s on our list by the bottle.

Red wines: Plavac Mali, Dingač, Teran and more
Plavac Mali is the main red grape of the Dalmatian coast. DNA research has shown it descends from Crljenak Kaštelanski, the grape known in the US as Zinfandel. Dingač is Plavac Mali from one named slope on the Pelješac peninsula, and in 1961 it became the first Croatian wine with a protected geographic origin.
Teran comes from Istria. It’s lighter in body than Plavac Mali, with deep color and sharp acidity.

| Plavac Mali | €7 | €38 | Full-bodied, with dark and dried fruit and firm tannins. |
| Dingač | €7 | €42 | Plavac Mali from the Dingač slopes, ripe and concentrated. |

| Cabernet Sauvignon | €7 | €38 | Blackcurrant fruit and a firm structure. |

House wine by the glass or by the liter
Our house white and red are €4 a glass or €22 a liter. A liter is the simplest way to share wine around a table.

Try six wines with our €35 wine tasting
Our wine tasting brings six Croatian wines to your table: three whites, two reds and a rosé, with a shot of rakija on the house. It costs €35 per person. Ask our team when you arrive.
New to Croatian wine? Five grapes to start with
Four of these Croatian grapes are €7 a glass, so you can try them side by side for €28. The fifth, Pošip, comes by the bottle.
- Graševina. The everyday white of continental Croatia, dry and fresh.
- Malvazija. Istria’s white, lighter and more floral, with a salty edge.
- Teran. Istria’s red, sharp and deeply colored, at its best with cured ham.
- Plavac Mali. The big red of the south. If you like it, try the Dingač next, also €7 a glass.
- Pošip. The white of Korčula, rounder and fuller than Graševina or Malvazija. Order it by the bottle for the table, €38.
Wine and cheese in Zagreb: what to eat with each glass
The kitchen cooks Croatian home food, so there is always something on the menu to go with your glass.
- Prosciutto and cheese boards (€17 for one, €28 for two, €44 for four) go well with Malvazija or Graševina.
- The traditional cold board for two (€35), with prosciutto, homemade cheese, proja and pickled pepper, suits a glass of Teran.
- Štrukli for two (€17), Zagorje’s baked cheese pastry, pairs with Graševina or Chardonnay.
- Ćevapi (€16), veal ribs (€21) and beef steak (€32) stand up to Plavac Mali or Dingač.
- Sea bream (€19), grilled squid (€16) and black risotto (€16) go with Pošip or Malvazija.
